What is Garuda Linux?
Before starting how to Install Garuda Linux let’s understand what is Garuda Linux, Garuda Linux is a distribution that is based on Arch Linux Operating System.
It’s provide graphic interface to install it easily and also provide the other advance graphical tools for managing one’s system. It has many performance-oriented Linux distro that provide many performance enhancing tweaks.
Prerequisites:
- Storage should be 30GB
- Ram should be 4G
- Virtual Box on system if you are installing on Virtual Machine
- ISO file for Garuda Linux. Follow this url to Download Garuda Linux
- OpenGL 3.3 + Video Card
- 64bit System
Features:
- Automatic snapshot using Timeshift.

- Default file system is BTRFS with zstd compression.
- GUI interface to manage Drivers and Kernels.

Install Garuda Linux on Virtual Box
In this article I am going to install Garuda Linux on Virtual Box. Follow these below steps to install Garuda Linux on VM machine.
Step 1. First open Virtual Box and press on New button.
Step 2. Set the name for Virtual machine as you prefer and select type to Debian-Based 64Bit Linux Architecture.
Step 3. Now set the RAM for your Garuda Linux machine.
Step 4. Click on Next, button to create a Virtual Hard Disk and click on Create button.
Step 5. Set the Hard Disk File type for your VDI.
Step 6. Select the Physical Hard Disk Storage to dynamically allocated.
Step 7. Select your Virtual Hard Disk size to save your machine and its files.
Step 8. Now click on Start button.
Step 9. Select Garuda Linux ISO file and click on Start button.
Step 10. Now click on the Default Selected Option. For example: Boot: Garuda .x86_64 gnome and hit enter.
Step 11. Double click on the Install Garuda Linux Icon on the Desktop.
Step 12. After that select a Language what you want.
Step 13. Than select your Location and hit Continue.
Step 14. Next select your Keyboard Layout and click on continue.
Step 15. Under partitions select the first options to erase the disk.
Step 16. Type your computer’s name and provide password to login system and click on continue.
Step 17. In next screen it prompt you summary of the options that you have chosen if all looks good Click on Install button.
Step 18. After clicking on the Install button please wait few minutes to get installed it on your system. Once it is installed click on the restart button to reboot your Garuda Linux system.
Step 19. Once system rebooted successfully. Type your Password to login Garuda Linux.
Congratulations!!! You have successfully installed Garuda Linux. Now enjoy it’s all feature.
